Posted: 11 May 2010 04:49 AM PDT

A 62-year-old man was charged with animal cruelty after police found two dogs in his car that appeared to be overheated, records show.

William Harris left the dogs in his car parked at 4740 N. Congress Ave. on Monday, according to Boynton Beach police records.

Officers saw the dogs at 6:43 p.m., go them out of the car and took them to Boynton Beach Animal Control.

Harris called police about an hour later and went to pick up his pets at the Police Department. He was charged with animal cruelty and given a notice to appear in court.
