"What makes this product so unique is its flexibility and marketability," Fazio said. "As far as I know, it's the only one of its kind and provides unlimited possibilities for newspapers, magazines and businesses who wish to extend their reach to markets such as retail, real estate, entertainment and more. Also, it's a wonderful product for individuals who enjoy receiving advertising material, but dislike the clutter. Or, for those who enjoy online shopping, but get frustrated by fruitless searches," Fazio adds.

"This is such a unique product. I don't think we've seen anything like it, and our clients love it!" The guide would be an excellent advertising vehicle for a pet-loving audience," says Ashlee Gonigham, Public Relations Manager of Matrix Partners, a brand strategy and communications firm located in Chicago, IL. Matrix recently was awarded a Gold EFFIE by the New York American Marketing Association, recognizing Matrix as one of the 25 most effective marketing firms in North America. Matrix was one of the gift guide's leading contributors of products---most of which were featured on NJ.com/pets throughout this past year.

"Pets are a part of the modern American family. According to the most recent APPA summary, more than 80% of dog owners and more than 61% of cat owners buy gifts for their pets. Catering to this industry is insightful and profitable. The copy, art work and total concept of the HolidayPetsGiftGuide.pdf is consumer friendly and well executed," Gonigham adds.

Marion County officials remove dozens of pets living in filth - Orlando Sentinel

Posted: 18 Nov 2010 02:07 PM PST

Marion county officials seized 65 dogs and a bird from two homes on Tuesday that were living in unsanitary conditions.

Marion County Animal Services said they removed 56 Yorkshire terriers, a Maltese, a terrier mix, a dachshund, a chow chow mix and parakeet from a home in the Weirsdale-area after receiving reports they had been abandoned, a report stated.

Most of the animals were suffering from skin problems due to heavy flea infestation and were matted with their own waste, said program coordinator Elaine DeIorio. The top half of the bird's beak had grown so long over it's the bottom that it had trouble eating.

An anonymous caller who had purchased a Yorkie from the owner Lynda Brock went by the home and told officials a foul odor was emanating from inside.

Brock, 65, surrendered eight dogs but officials decided to take all of them, DeIorio said

"There was an overwhelming smell of feces and urine. Make shift pens set up throughout the home. They had food and water but there was no way of knowing how fresh it was," DeIorio said. "They were not receiving the proper care."

A Marion County Sheriff's County crisis intervention specialist also responded. The Department of Children and Families' Adult Services were later called for Brock.

At a second Summerfield-area home, authorities found five extremely emaciated pit bull mixes while working another case. They suffered from muscle atrophy, skin problems, and teeth erosion.

Owner Heather Remmele, 26, refused to provide veterinary care for the animals.

DeIorio said the agency will petition for custody of the animals. So far, no charges have been filed.

The dogs are not yet available for adoption, she said.
