| Pets fed on woman who was dead in her home - AZCentral.com Posted: 06 Jan 2011 05:19 PM PST Jan. 6, 2011 06:19 PM LOUISVILLE, Ky. - A woman who had been dead for 22 days was found in her home Wednesday, and it appeared her pets had been feeding on her decomposing body, according to the Jefferson County Coroner's office. Ida Robinson, 68, of Louisville died of natural causes, said Jack Arnold, a deputy coroner. Robinson had four dogs, one of which was dead in the home as well. Arnold said he was able to determine how long Robinson had been dead because of the dates of the newspapers and a calendar she kept in her home. Neighbors alerted police after they saw newspapers piling up in her driveway, Arnold said. The living dogs, a female pug mix, a female black Labrador mix and a male black Labrador, are under the care of Metro Animal Services, said spokeswoman Jackie Gulbe. The dogs were in "relatively decent" health, she said. The fourth dog, another female pug mix, appeared very emaciated when authorities found her body, but it is unclear what caused her death, Gulbe said. Animal Services is working to put the dogs up for adoption or transfer them to another animal rescue group.
