| San Juan puts kids, pets on parade - msnbc.com Posted: Pets and their owners were in costume and on display Sunday at the Kids Pet Parade in San Juan Capistrano. There was a prairie girl with her dog dressed as a horse, a dog as King Arthur with his queen and chickens as, well, they were just chickens. More than 49 pets and their owners showed their tricks and costumes to the judges in five categories including the judge's choice award. The winner of the judge's choice, Ella Erickson, 5, of San Juan Capistrano, won a spot in the 53rd Swallows Day Parade on March 26. "It's a nice way to see all the animals from around the community," said Hannah Kredel-Speer, 11, who was showing a Cochin hen named Angela Davis. "And it's a nice way to get out."
